I wonder if anyone reading this can answer a random question. Why is “dz” the two-letter abbreviation for Albania?

Alternatively, can anyone think of a Google search that would quickly answer this? I had a few shots at it but can only find lists of them. It’s one of those things that just seems to be ungooglable.

    It’s Algeria not Albania ;)

The two letter country code DZ is derived from Dzayer, the local name for Algeria.

    All hail wiki :)

See… somehow, after coming across this earlier in the day, I spent a while at Wikipedia trying to find the answer myself, checked again a few times to make sure I got the country right, then posted this… and managed to write Albania. With a link to a page that says it’s Algeria.
